Rafael Chambouleyron. PhD (2005) – University of Cambridge, UK. Professor at the Universidade Federal do Pará, in Belém/Brazil. His research focuses on the social and economic history of the Portuguese colonial Amazon region in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. His current research project analyses the production and trade of Amazonian colonial commodities, such as cacao, clove bark, and sarsaparilla, produced mainly by Indians compelled to work in the region’s hinterland. He was a Visiting Professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in 2018 (EHESS, Paris/France). Since 2016, he has been invited as a visiting professor at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville/Spain).
