Manuel Leão Marques Lobato (n.1956) é Investigador Integrado no Centro de História da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa desde 2015.

Publicou 94 capítulos de livros, 31 artigos em revistas especializadas e tem 8 livros editados e co-editados.

Orientou diversos trabalhos de iniciação científica e dissertações de mestrado nas áreas de História da Ásia e História da presença portuguesa no Oceano Índico.

Participou em 9 projectos de investigação, organizou 11 eventos e participou em 123 outros, dos quais 45 no estrangeiro.

As suas áreas de interesse dizem respeito à Ásia do Sueste, ao antigo Estado português da Índia, a Malaca, Moçambique, Molucas, Timor e Filipinas, e focam temas relacionados com o islão, a missionação católica, a miscigenação, a arquitectura militar e as redes mercantis e de poder no Oceano Índico.
