Ana Paula Ribeiro Ferreira Menino Avelar graduated in History (1982) and obtained the Master’s degree in Modern History and Expansion at Lisbon University (1992). In 2000 she obtained a doctorate degree in History at Aberta University, where she obtained the aggregation in the area of Historical Studies(2006). She is now an Associate Professor with Aggregation at the Aberta University, a researcher at the CHAM-Humanities Center FCSH-UNL / UAç. She collaborates with the Center for Comparative Studies -UL and the History Center -UL.His areas of Scientific Activity are:Early and Modern History; History of the Discoveries and Portuguese Expansion; Empires History and Colonial History; Asian Studies; Heritage Studies; Portuguese Studies. During the years she has been visiting professor and at 2016 member of the Board of the D. Luís-Cascais Foundation. In 2017 she is invited to be in the consulting Board of the Catedra -Cascais Interartes. she has carried out various scientific coordination activities in undergraduate, master’s, postgraduate studies. Conceived courses of masters and intervened in the processes of evaluation . she has held various positions either within the university or within the Study Center where she is integrated.
