This is a presentation on aspects related to the research I'm doing as part of a future doctoral thesis on the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy). I will situate the problem from the point of view of the object of the study, the methodology and the purpose. Investigating what? How? What for? In thinking about the first answer, we're heading towards the focus of the research, the definition of its perimeter, and the perspective of a given analysis. With the second question, we tackle the particular aspects of a specific investigation. Not just sources and archives, but also interdisciplinarity. Finally, what is the point of investigating the CAP? History doesn't repeat itself, nor is it the historian's job to make predictions. It is true that Europe is going through times of accelerated transformation. Therefore, understanding the processes of change in the past will help to give a sense of the future to the investigations of the present.
