We are pleased to announce that the program for the International Seminar “Egypopcult: Reception of Antiquity in Contemporary Popular Culture”, organized by the Egypopcult Project and hosted by the Center for History of the University of Lisbon (Portugal) between the 24th-26th January 2024, is now available.
The aim of this seminar is to discuss the reception studies of Antiquity in its various manifestations, such as cinema, TV series, comics, board and computer games, advertising, genre literature and others. The ancient civilisations to be studied are Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt, and the classical world (ancient Greece and Rome), but we are also open to other cultural areas, such as ancient Asia and pre-Columbian America, among others.
For those who would like to attend the seminar online, inscription is required at egypopcult.lisboa@gmail.com. A connection link will be sent a few days before the event.
For those interested in travelling to Lisbon to participate in the event in person on 25th-26th of January 2024, inscription is also required. Please contact the organising committee at the following email address: egypopcult.lisboa@gmail.com.
