The project\u00a0<\/span>Fontes para a Hist\u00f3ria de \u00c1frica<\/span>\u00a0aims to help publicise and disseminate sources, i.e. materials that help us understand the dynamics of transformation and evolution of societies in Africa. This project favours materials that were at one time associated with people\u2019s daily lives, such as newspapers, one-off publications, photographs, letters, loose papers, as well as posters and pamphlets.<\/span><\/p>

It won\u2019t be irrelevant to emphasise the importance of this project, since, as much or even more than the documentation produced by state administrations, newspapers and loose papers are particularly perishable assets \u2013 whether due to the fortunes of life or the weight of political drifts and conjunctures \u2013 that need to be safeguarded. By way of illustration, one of the digitised newspapers \u2013<\/span>
Presence of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe<\/span>
\u2013 has been rescued from its fate as wrapping paper. To some extent, these materials provide us with points of support for explanations and, equally, help us to understand the almost immovable gap between idealisations of the future and political and social drift. They are therefore reminders of the need for critical reflection on the historical knowledge produced.<\/span><\/p>

For historical reasons, which are readily apparent, the collections dealt with already concern Portuguese-speaking countries, namely Angola, Guinea-Bissau and S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe. However, we don\u2019t rule out dealing with and valorising documentation relating to other societies in Africa. In line with a notion of historical knowledge that is at once rigorous, open and shareable, CH-ULisboa will make the most of the collections made available to it for digitisation and publicity, making them accessible to people interested in the history of their lands and communities, as well as to the entire scientific community.<\/span><\/p>

N\u00e3o ser\u00e1 irrelevante frisar a import\u00e2ncia deste projecto, porquanto, tanto ou at\u00e9 mais do que a documenta\u00e7\u00e3o produzida pelas administra\u00e7\u00f5es estatais, jornais e pap\u00e9is avulsos s\u00e3o bens particularmente perec\u00edveis \u2013 seja pelos sortil\u00e9gios das vidas, seja pelo peso das derivas e conjunturas pol\u00edticas \u2013 que importa salvaguardar. \u00c0 guisa de ilustra\u00e7\u00e3o, refira-se que um dos jornais digitalizados \u2013 <\/span>Presen\u00e7a de S. Tom\u00e9 e Pr\u00edncipe<\/span> \u2013 foi resgatado do seu destino de papel de embrulho. Nalguma medida, esses materiais fornecem-nos pontos de apoio para as explica\u00e7\u00f5es e, de igual modo, ajudam-nos a entender o quase inamov\u00edvel fosso entre as idealiza\u00e7\u00f5es do futuro e as derivas pol\u00edticas e sociais. Logo, n\u00e3o deixam de constituir como lembretes para a necess\u00e1ria reflex\u00e3o cr\u00edtica sobre o conhecimento hist\u00f3rico produzido.<\/span><\/p>

Por raz\u00f5es hist\u00f3ricas, facilmente intu\u00eddas, os esp\u00f3lios tratados desde j\u00e1 respeitam a pa\u00edses de l\u00edngua oficial portuguesa, nomeadamente Angola, Guin\u00e9-Bissau e S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 e Pr\u00edncipe. Por\u00e9m, n\u00e3o descartamos tratar e valorizar documenta\u00e7\u00e3o relativa a outras sociedades em \u00c1frica. Em congru\u00eancia com uma no\u00e7\u00e3o do conhecimento hist\u00f3rico a um tempo rigoroso, aberto e partilh\u00e1vel, o CH-ULisboa valorizar\u00e1 os esp\u00f3lios colocados \u00e0 sua disposi\u00e7\u00e3o para efeito de digitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o e de publicita\u00e7\u00e3o, tornando-os acess\u00edveis \u00e0s pessoas interessadas na hist\u00f3ria das suas terras e comunidades, assim como a toda a comunidade cient\u00edfica.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Open access publication of issues of the newspaper N\u00f4 Pintcha between 1975 and 2000. There are over 1,500 issues, totalling over 12,000 pages. It was originally the organ of the Subcommissariat of State for Information and Tourism, and has maintained a relatively regular news output to this day. This regularity makes it an essential source for the study of the contemporary history of the PALOP. With this project, the University of Lisbon is strengthening its links not only with Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde, but also with the scientific community that is interested in Africa and, more particularly, in these two countries. April in S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe (1974-1975): Documentos e Viv\u00eancias<\/em> is a repository of documents related to the period between 25 April and Independence in S. Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe. It brings together typewritten documents, photographs, newspapers, testimonies, etc. This page began to be built with materials collected and generously donated for digitisation and publication by Daniel dos Santos Nunes. In addition, some materials collected over the decades were given to Augusto Nascimento.
