He graduated in History from FLUL in 1980, where he joined as a Trainee Assistant in 1987. In 1998, he obtained his PhD with the thesis Egyptian Funerary Statuettes of the 21st Dynasty: 1070-945 BC<\/em>. His scientific publications include: E\u00e7a de Queir\u00f3s and Pharaonic Egypt<\/em> (1987); Myths and Legends of Ancient Egypt<\/em> (2005); Eroticism and Sexuality in Ancient Egypt<\/em> (2012); Egyptian Art. Born in Lisbon (1944), she graduated in History from FLUL (1966). She obtained her PhD in 1984 with the thesis The Regencies during the Minority of King Sebastian. Elements for a Structural History<\/em>. A disciple of Virg\u00ednia Rau and Jorge Borges de Macedo, she specialised in Modern History and, in 1991, presented her lecture for aggregation on the theme \u00abTowards a history of Europe in the 16th century: typology of the regime and institutions\u00bb. CARREIRA, Jos\u00e9 Nunes<\/a><\/h2>

Born in Alburitel (Our\u00e9m, 1934). BA Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (1960) and in Biblical and Oriental Sciences at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (1963). He taught at the Catholic University of Portugal, at the University of the Azores and at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, where he founded the Oriental Institute. \"Ant\u00f3nio<\/a><\/div>

COELHO, Ant\u00f3nio Borges (1928-2025)<\/a><\/h2>

Born in Mur\u00e7a (Tr\u00e1s-os-Montes, 1928), in addition to being a historian, he was also a journalist, poet, playwright and, in his youth, an anti-fascist resistance fighter. He graduated in Historical and Philosophical Sciences from FLUL and began teaching at this institution after 25 April 1974. He obtained his doctorate in 1978 with a thesis on the Revolution of 1383. He obtained his professorship in 1991, was appointed full professor two years later and retired in 1998. His works include Hist\u00f3ria de Portugal<\/em> (5 volumes) and Portugal na Espanha \u00c1rabe<\/em>, as well as studies on the Inquisition. FARINHA, Ant\u00f3nio Dias<\/a><\/h2>

BA in History from School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (1962); BA in Literal Arabic and History and Geography of the Maghreb from the \u00c9cole Nationale des Langues Orientales Vivantes of the Universit\u00e9 de Paris-I Panth\u00e9on-Sorbonne (1968); and BA in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon (1980); he got a PhD in History from the University of Lisbon (1990), with the thesis Portugal e Marrocos no S\u00e9culo XV<\/em>. From his work, the following books stand out Hist\u00f3ria de Mazag\u00e3o durante o Per\u00edodo Filipino<\/em> (1970), Os Portugueses no Golfo P\u00e9rsico (1507-1538)<\/em> (1991) and Os Portugueses em Marrocos<\/em> (1999).<\/p>\n<\/div>View Profile<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Born in Louren\u00e7o Marques (Mozambique), in 1939. HBA in Philosophy, from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, and PhD in Sociology, from the University of Strasbourg. He taught at the universities of Aix-en-Provence, Pisa, Cologne, Johns Hopkins, and Brown. MENDON\u00e7A, Manuela (1948-2025)<\/a><\/h2>

Graduated in History from FLUL in 1978 and obtained her PhD in 1990 with the thesis D. Jo\u00e3o II: Um Percurso Humano e Pol\u00edtico nas Origens da Modernidade em Portugal<\/em>. From 1990 to 1996, she was Deputy Director-General of the National Archives\/Torre do Tombo; from 2004 to 2006, Secretary-General of the Portuguese Academy of History; and, since January of this year, President of the Portuguese Academy of History.
