Vítor Luís Gaspar Rodrigues is an Integrated Researcher at the History Center of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, with the category, since 2024, of Principal Researcher with Aggregation. Took public Aggregation Exams in 2007 at New University of Lisbon, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, in the area of History of Discoveries and Portuguese Expansion. He received his PhD in Modern History in 2005 from the University of the Azores. He took tests in Research Career, equivalent to a PhD, in 1999, at the Tropical Scientific Research Institute. In 1990 he took the entrance examination for the Research Assistant category, equivalent to a Master’s degree, at the Tropical Scientific Research Institute. In 1985 he took public exams in Teaching Career, equivalent to a Master’s degree, at the University of the Azores. He graduated in History in 1981, from New University of Lisbon, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. He published 9 books, 8 of which he co-authored, and coordinated 8 books, having written more than three dozen book chapters and more than a hundred scientific articles in specialized journals. He investigates in the area(s) of Humanities-History and Archaeology, with an emphasis on Military History of the Portuguese Empire from the 15th to 17th centuries.
