Teaches the seminar “Tópicos de Paleografia I” for the Palaeography and Diplomatics specialization in the Master’s and PhD programmes in History, as well as the elective seminar in “Paleografia e Diplomática” in the Master’s in Documentation and Information Science at FLUL.

She has frequently collaborated with philologists, as a palaeographer, in projects related to the edition of medieval, modern, and contemporary texts. For example, she has worked with the “ Equipa Pessoa”, coordinated by Ivo de Casto and Luiz Fagundes Duarte, on the critical edition of Fernando Pessoa’s archives. More recently, she has collaborated with Pilar Lorenzo Gradín and Mercedes Brea from the Facultad de Filoloxia of the University of Santiago de Compostela on the edition of the corpus of Galician-Portuguese troubadour poems. In the field of documentary editions, she joined the team led by Eduardo Borges Nunes for the transcription and edition of the Chancellery of D. João II (ANTT / CNCDP) and is currently part of the research group in the eReginae project, coordinated by Ana Maria Rodrigues and Manuela Santos Silva.

She also collaborated with the international project Medieval Unicode Font Initiative on the (approved) proposal to introduce special characters for use in transcriptions and electronic editions of medieval texts within the universal character set defined by the Unicode consortium. Susana is a co-author of the HTR model “Portuguese handwriting 16th-19th c.” for the automatic transcription of manuscripts, available since 2023 on the Transkribus platform, the result of the exploratory project TraPrInq, coordinated by Hervé Baudry (CHAM / Un. Nova).

Her interests include Palaeography, Diplomatics, Codicology, History of the Book, and Text Edition, with no preference for any specific historical period.
