Rogério Sousa is Professor of Egyptology at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon and Principal Researcher at the Centre for History of the same institution. He is coordinator of the Gate of the Priests Project, an international network set up at the Centre for Hstory gathering the Vatican Museums, the Louvre Museum, the Museo Egizio in Turin and many other institutions aiming at the integrated study of the Tomb of the Priests of Amun, found intact in 1891 and dispersed shortly after. He coordinates the Gate of the Priests Series published by Brill which aims at releasing museum’s collections originating from the Tomb of the Priests of Amun. He is author of a vast bibliography on Ancient Egyptian material culture, with a particular focus on museum’s collections. He works as consultant for several museums, both in national and international contexts, having curated several exhibitions, aiming at releasing to the museum’s audience the results of scientific projects. Editor and co-editor of nine collective books, author of ten monographs, most of them published in international publishing houses, and of nearly eighty papers in journals or collective books. He is referee of several academic journals and publications.
