Matilde Amaral Marques

Matilde Amaral Marques has been a research fellow at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences (Academia das Ciências de Lisboa) since November 2025. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, specialising in Early Modern History. Previously, between October 2024 and September 2025, she served as a non-doctoral integrated researcher at the Centre for History at the same university. Her research career formaly began in 2023 when she was awarded the ‘Novos Talentos’ (New Talents) Scholarship by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Under this programme, she conducted a study on fraternal conflicts through the lens of the history of emotions — a field which, alongside family history, lies at the core of her research interests. Her academic performance has been recognised through five merit awards, and she currently represents the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as a Scholarship Ambassador.
