Manuela Santos Silva is an Associate-Professor at the Department of History of the School of Artes and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL – Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa). She teaches BA, MA and PhD students and supervises Final Essays, Dissertations and Theses. At present she coordinates the Specialization in History and Gender. She holds a PhD by the University of Lisbon (1997) and a Master Degree by the NOVA University of Lisbon (1987), both in Medieval History. She is an Integrated Researcher at the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon (CHUL – Centro de História da Universidade de Lisboa) where she coordinates the research group “Court Studies and Diplomacy” (Estudos de Corte e Diplomacia). She is a Correspondent-Academic of the Portuguese History Academy (APH – Academia Portuguesa da História). Since her first academic studies she has researched in different but complementary fields including Urban and Landscape History, History of Monarchy under a gender perspective, Medieval Daily Life and Family History and has published books, book-chapters and essays in all these subjects.
