Maria de Fátima Rosa is Assistant Professor of Ancient Near East at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, integrated researcher at Center for History of the University of Lisbon, and research collaborator at CHAM – Center for the Humanities.

She has a BA in Archaeology, an MA in Ancient History (FLUL 2010), and a PhD in History, with a specialization in Ancient History, by NOVA University Lisbon (2015). Her PhD thesis is entitled “The perception of order and the conscience of time in Mari during the Old Babylonian Period (19th and 18th centuries BC)”.

Her research focuses on two distinct aspects:

1 – the History of Ancient Mesopotamia, specifically with regard to the Amorite Kingdom of Mari and the language and perceptions of Time;

2 – the Reception of Ancient Mesopotamia in cinema and literature.
