Maria da Graça Alves Mateus Ventura completed her PhD in Humanities in 2003/02/07 at the University of Lisbon, her MA in History of the Portuguese Discoveries and Expansion in 1997 and her BA in History in 1980 at the same university. She has published several articles in specialized journals. She is the author of 17 book chapters and 7 books. She has organized more than a dozen events. She has taken part in numerous national and international congresses on topics related to the Portuguese presence in Peru in the Modern period. She was awarded the \\\”History of Portugal\\\’s Presence in the World\\\” prize by the Portuguese Academy of History / Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2022 for her book \\\”Por este mar adentro: êxitos e fracassos de mareantes e emigrantes do Algarve na América Hispânica\\\”. She has participated as a Research Fellow in 1 project(s). She is an external evaluator for national and foreign magazines. She is Member of the Portuguese Academy of History (since 2023) and President of the Institute of Ibero-Atlantic Culture and also Director of the Travessias Collection (since 1999) and of the Magazine Meridional, Revista de Estudos do Mediterrâneo (since 2021) at the Institute of Ibero-Atlantic Culture. He works in the area(s) of Humanities with an emphasis on Cultural and social History in the Modern Age . In her professional activities she has interacted with more than a dozen collaborator(s) in co-authoring scientific papers.
