Graduated in History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Master’s in Social History from the Postgraduate Program in Social History at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Funded by CNPq, the research carried out during the master’s degree observed the discourse elaborated by the intellectuals involved in the Angolan literary magazine Mensagem – A Voz dos Naturais de Angola (1951-1952), a paradigmatic periodical for nationalist historiography. Karina holds a PhD in Social History of Culture from the Postgraduate Program in Social History of Culture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. Funded by CAPES, the research focused on the relationship between territoriality and food consumption in the city of Luanda between 1949 and 1973. Currently, Karina is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (BIPD) at the History Center of the University of Lisbon (CHUL). Funded by FCT/MCTES, she is collaborating with the development of the Anthropocoasts Transdiciplinary Coast Lab within the Project UIDP/04311/2020. She has expertise in the field of Intellectual History, Social History of Culture and in the areas of American History, Contemporary African History, Environmental History and African and Afro-Brazilian Food Studies. She is member of the Africas Research Group (UERJ/UFRJ/ISCED-Huíla); African History Study Group (GEAH/PUC-Rio); member of the Brazilian Association of African Studies (ABE-África); collaborating researcher of the History and Nature Research Group (UFRJ) and of the Center for African Studies at the University of Porto (CEAUP).
