Filipe Marques Fernandes is a Master’s student in History at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, specializing in Early Modern History and the European Expansion. His current research explores regalist political thought and intellectual exile networks in 18th-century Europe. He is a Research Fellow at the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon (CH-ULisboa), where he is part of the “Uses of the Past” Research Group. In 2021, he was a Research Trainee at the University of the Basque Country, and in 2024, he was elected a Member of the Royal Historical Society. His main interests include early modern intellectual and cultural history; the Portuguese and Spanish Enlightenments; liberal political thought; historical constitutionalism; the history of historiography; and the uses of the past.
