He completed his postdoctoral studies in History at the University of Coimbra in 2018. He holds a PhD in Institutional and Contemporary Political History from the New University of Lisbon (2009), a Master’s in Contemporary History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra (1999), and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the Faculty of Arts of Lisbon (1994). He is also a postgraduate in Psychogerontology from ISPA (2017) and in Science and Technology Management and Policy from the New University of Lisbon (2021). Since 2021, he has been working as a Senior Archivist at the Historical Archive of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa.

From 2010 to 2014, he was an External Trainer and External Coordinator at the Employment and Vocational Training Institute. He was a PhD and postdoctoral fellow funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) from 2001 to 2005 and 2014 to 2017. His research has focused on the relationship between historiography and ideology in the first half of the 19th century, under the supervision of Fernando Catroga, António Pedro Vicente, Sérgio Campos Matos, and Maria Manuela Tavares Ribeiro. His Master’s and PhD theses were dedicated to the work of the 2nd Viscount of Santarém.

He collaborated with the National Library of Lisbon on catalogues dedicated to the cartography of the Viscount of Santarém’s time and in the Dicionário de Historiadores Portugueses (Dictionary of Portuguese Historians), contributing 12 entries, three of which were in English. He carried out postdoctoral research at the Faculties of Arts of Coimbra and Lisbon on the Lisbon Academy of Sciences between 1779 and 1859.

He published a self-published book in May 2016 titled ‘Pensamento histórico e acção política do 2º Visconde de Santarém (1809-1855)’ and ‘2º Visconde de Santarém (1791-1856): uma biografia intelectual e política’ with Chiado Books in June 2018. He also published ‘1º Visconde de Santarém (1757-1818): um estudo biográfico’ in December 2020 and ‘Coração português, fidelidade realista: o ultra João António Rebocho (1795-1854), em Dezembro de 1821’, both also by Chiado Books. He edited the volume ‘Historiografia, Cultura e Política na Época do Visconde de Santarém (1791-1856)’, published by the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon in December 2019.

His academic production includes two articles and one review published in peer-reviewed online journals (Brazil and Spain), five book chapters, 14 articles published in non-peer-reviewed journals, and two other artistic or cultural productions.
