Covadonga Valdaliso-Casanova holds a PhD in Medieval History from the Universidad de Valladolid (2007) and a PhD in Medieval Literature from the Universidad de Alcalá (2023). She specialises in Iberian history in the final centuries of the Middle Ages and in the exercise of monarchical power, its legitimisation and the construction of collective memories, with a focus on medieval historiography. She has published and analysed various texts belonging to this genre, and examined the relationship between memory, narrative and the evolution of territories.
Since 2019, she has been teaching the courses ‘Medieval History of Portugal’, ‘Methods in History’, ‘Introduction to Historiography’, ‘The Study of History’ and ‘Theory of History’, as well as the M.A. seminar ‘Themes in Theory of History’ and the Ph.D. seminars ‘State of the Art and New Perspectives’ and ‘Methods in History: Themes and Problems’, at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. She is co-organiser of the EdNoa Summer Courses (2021-2024). She was co-coordinator of the CH-ULisboa Research Group Uses of the Past.
