Bruno Laranjeira Gonçalves is a PhD holder and has written scientific papers on the subject of cultural and intellectual history. He has researched extensively about the relation between Portugal and European intellectual currents, in particularly those influenced by Hegelianism. In parallel, he has also studied and is interested in the philosophy of German idealism and its social aspects. He worked and was guided by specialists in this subject, such as Klaus Vieweg, who was his PhD thesis supervisor. The reception, appropriation and elaboration of ideas of historical contours often make use of authoritative figures in Western thought, of course, always taking into account mediating routes of cultural transfers. As a result, he also has had his focus on the uses of history and has worked closely with Sergio Campos Matos, elucidating those aspects in the Portuguese intellectual milieu.
