Graduate in History, Master’s degree in Medieval History and PhD in History (Middle Ages). Researcher at the Centre for the History of Society and Culture (University of Coimbra) and the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon, focusing on the themes of war and international relations in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. He has given lectures in Portugal and abroad and has authored scientific articles and book chapters, among other published works. He is a founding member of the ‘Iberian Association of Military History (4th-16th centuries)’, director of the ‘Portuguese Association of Friends of Castles’ and a member of the international network ‘Medieval Culture and War’ (Universities of Leeds, Lisbon, Saint-Louis in Brussels and Athens).
