PhD in History of the Discoveries and Portuguese Expansion (2004) and Master’s in History of the Discoveries and Portuguese Expansion (1995), from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Graduation degree in History (1980) from the Faculty of Arts University of Lisbon and in European Higher Studies (1983), from the University of Nancy 2 – Campus Letters and Human and Social Sciences. Her professional experience includes working in Mozambique in education (1983-1985) and as a researcher at IICT-Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical (1995- 2015). She is currently an Assistant Researcher at the University of Lisbon. She has participated in several research projects, having been a responsible researcher in two. Her academic focus lies in the Humanities, specifically the History of South-East Africa and the Indian Ocean, as well as Environmental History.
