Ana Santos Leitão is a researcher at the Centre for History of University of Lisbon (CH-ULisboa), integrated in the research group Cultural Encounters and Intersecting Societies. She´s a collaborator researcher member at IEM – Institute for Medieval Studies (FCSH) in Lisbon and a collaborator researcher member at CIDEHUS – Interdisciplinary Centre for History, Culture and Societies in University of Évora (UE). She completed her doctoral studies in History in 2022. She holds a PhD by PIUDHist, a joint Doctoral program established by the University of Lisbon, the University of Évora, the Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE ¿ IUL) and the Portuguese Catholic University, in Lisbon, and the Doctoral thesis investigated the Frontier and Settlement around S. Mamede´s Hill in the Middle Ages (13th to 15th centuries), having received a FCT Grant by FCT. She had a Degree in History (1999) from School of Arts and Humanities of University of Lisbon, where she also presented her M.A. thesis in Regional and Local History (2008). She had a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism from INP (1994). She was a researcher member of the projet “Petites Villes aux XIII-XV siécles. Royaumes de Portugal e de France et terres francophones d´Empire” na International Cooperation C&T (Project 6818) – PESSOA REF 35675PK with the Clermont Auvergne University in France, funded by FCT/CAMPUSFRANCE (2016/17). Currently is a researcher member of the project “Think big on small frontier towns: Alto Alentejo and Alta Extremadura leonesa (13th-16th centuries)” (PTDC/HAR-HIS/3024/2020), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Presently she´s a Senior Technician at the Odivelas Municipality where is a member of the research group for the Study of the cistercian Monastery of Saint Denis and Saint Bernard, working in the Research Office for Promotion of the Monastery of Odivelas. She´s a member of the SPEM – Portuguese Medieval Studies Society since 2012. She´s collaborator member of the Digital and Immaterial Village’s Archives (DIVA´s) and member of the In_Scit – International Network Small Cities in Time. The main research interest concerns the Social and Political History, Power and Societies, Urban History, Frontier Studies, Regional and Local History, mainly in the Alto Alentejo region, as well the Territory and Cistercian studies, in the medieval and early modern periods.
